University Hospitals of Leicester

Employer: University Hospitals of Leicester

Department: Transplant Laboratory, Leicester General Hospital

Location: Leicester

Salary: £40,057 – £45,839 pa

University Hospitals Leicester is one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – and increasingly specialist services over a much wider area.

The Transplant Laboratory is currently based at Leicester General Hospital eventually relocating to Glenfield Hospital Leicester with the Renal Transplant Unit. It provides a Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics service to support adult renal transplantation at the Leicester Transplant Unit for patients in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough. We provide a range of specialist clinical scientific services to the Renal, Respiratory and Cardiovascular Clinical Management Group including disease association and drug hypersensitivity studies.

To assist in the expansion of the services the Transplant Laboratory is now seeking a Biomedical or Clinical Scientist with experience in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. Applicants should be HCPC registered, have relevant post-graduate experience and have completed, or be in the final year of, the BSHI diploma or STP training.

Candidates should ideally have experience in solid organ and stem cell transplantation and other HLA-related testing areas such as disease association studies and hypersensitive drug reactions.

An on call rota operates for deceased donor typing and recipient cross matching and the appointee will be expected to join this rota when fully trained. In return for your knowledge and experience we offer you a stimulating team environment for you to work in and develop in. The Laboratory is UKAS and EFI Accredited.

Closing date for applications: 30th June 2022

To apply go to NHS jobs and enter reference: 358-3600003-RRC-B

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Paul Dunn Head of Transplant Laboratory (0116 258 4606, [email protected])
